What does a complete FUE setup require?
Punches in several diameters with a compatible motor, extraction forceps, channel blades or implanter pens, graft storage dishes and holding solution, magnification, and the disposables around them — plus a reprocessing workflow for everything reusable.
How do surgeons choose punch sizes?
Against the patient’s follicular-unit size and skin characteristics, monitored by transection rate: the smallest punch that extracts intact grafts consistently wins. Teams keep multiple diameters sterile and switch based on what the first extractions show.
What separates a good instrument supplier?
Verifiable certifications and CE/regulatory documentation, batch-to-batch consistency, sterile packaging integrity, realistic lead times, and responsive after-sales support including replacements. Price matters after those five, not before.
Are premium implanter pens worth the price difference?
The real differences are needle grinding quality, spring consistency and serviceability rather than headline features. A mid-range pen in a disciplined workflow beats a premium pen in a careless one — evaluate needle quality per batch, not brand claims.
